The daily Luther
19th May
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Matthew 11 (xxviii)
"Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord GOD: and not that he return from his ways, and live." (Ezekiel 18 (xxiii)). It is His resolute will and intention alongside His command decided in eternity to save all mankind and to enable each person to partake in eternal joy. His mercy stretches from the rising of the sun to its setting, from midday to midnight and this mercy takes under His wing all those who are converted, who have true repentance and do penance. In this way, they partake in His mercy and seek His aid (…) as in Matthew 11, 28: "Come, come, come!"
The complete Luther-"A Meditation for Each Day of the Year" is available as a biligual (English and German) BREVIARY published by Wartburg Verlag Weimar. It can be purchased in English, world-wide from most internet book shops.
