Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? Thou hast the words of eternal life. And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.

In order to remain with Christ – in the face of so many devils and evil people and with so many trials and tribulations – another support than human strength is needed. There has to be a heart that can trust God and be relied upon. In addition he should have a passionate love of Christ so that he takes the whole groundwater of hell onto himself. The Christian knows that he has no other treasure or support than a gracious God. The Christian allows Christ to be more to him than the entire world and what it has to offer. Whoever does not have love for Christ can neither withstand nor overcome the World and its evils, nor its devils. The Devil is quite capable of chasing Christ out of one town and into the next, but will never be able to chase Him from the World.
