In this way the International Martin Luther Foundation paid tribute to a person, who has “practiced the reformatory tradition of freedom and responsibility for the common good both privately and professionally and in an exemplary manner”.

The conference was opened by Prelate Dr. Bernhard Felmberg, the senior representative of the Evangelical Church in Germany. He stressed the relationship between freedom and responsibility in business practices.

“In the Footsteps of Martin Luther” published

In the Footsteps of Martin Luther” is the English translation of “Unterwegs zu Luther” a travel book covering 50 of the most significant places in Martin Luther's life.

Heinz Stade's search for traces and evidence of the Reformation offers a lively impression of each of these places. Not only are the most important stations in Martin Luther's life included, but also many of the scenes of key events in the Reformation are described.

A number of these travelogues are complemented by short theological-spiritual “miniatures” by Thomas Seidel. These miniatures illuminate Luther's ideas and his influence on the modern world.

The photographs by Harald Wenzel-Orf accompany the text with artistic professionalism.

The dependable translation by John Gledhill makes this Luther travel book accessible for the international readership.
