Curriculum vitae

Gabriela Grillo studied musicology, German studies and theatre studies in Cologne and was a member of the German national dressage team from 1976 to 1982. She was a multiple German champion, European champion and won (team) gold in dressage at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal.

Gabriela Grillo has been Managing Partner of Wilhelm Grillo Handelsgesellschaft since 1993 and became Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board of Grillo-Werke AG in 2004, where she has been a member of the Supervisory Board since 1995.

Voluntary commitment

In October 2010, she became a member of the board of trustees of the Foundation for the Promotion of Protestant Hospitals. This foundation emerged from the association for the establishment of today's Protestant hospital in Duisburg-Nord, of which Gabriela Grillo's father was a co-founder. She is also Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board of the Duisburg Community Foundation, Chairwoman of the Board of Trustees of the Mülheim an der Ruhr Community Foundation and a member of the Executive Committee of the Duisburger Universitäts-Gesellschaft e.V. support organisation.

Entrepreneurial responsibility

Gabriela Grillo, as was particularly evident in her pulpit speech on 20 June this year in the Salvatorkirche in Duisburg, sees herself personally as very much anchored in the tradition and commitment of her father. His life motto "Everything you do, do with all your heart and soul" is also a guiding principle for her as a daughter and entrepreneur. She feels the same way about her father's proverb: "Freedom and the kingdom of heaven are not won by halves".

Guidelines that are of great importance to the company are responsibility, reliable behaviour, openness and transparency. Gabriela Grillo sees the interaction between employees and management as an important part of the corporate culture. At the same time, importance is attached to a mix of older and younger employees, as Grillo says, "The young people bring the enthusiasm, the older ones the experience [...]".

People are at the centre of the Grillo family business's thoughts and actions. The company emphasises a corporate culture that focuses on the well-being of the individual and therefore also the community.
