Friedhelm Loh - Awardee of the LutherRose 2019

On Saturday, 16th November 2019, Prof. Dr.-Ing. E.h. Friedhelm Loh, owner and CEO of the Friedhelm Loh Group, received the LutherRose 2019 for social responsibility and entrepreneurial courage at the “Sparkassenhaus” of the German Savings Banks and Giro Association in Berlin.

As part of the 12th Luther Conference, the International Martin Luther Foundation (IMLS) honoured Prof. Dr.-Ing. E.h. Friedhelm Loh as "an impressive personality and successful entrepreneur who embodies Martin Luther's reformatory values both professionally and privately".

From 2006 to 2014, Friedhelm Loh was President of the German Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers' Association (Zentralverband Elektrotechnik- und Elektronikindustrie e.V., ZVEI) and Vice President of the Federation of German Industries (Bundesverband der Deutschen Industrie e.V. BDI). He is now Honorary President of ZVEI for life. Friedhelm Loh is founder and Chairman of the Board of the Christian Media Foundation and founder and Chairman of the Board of the Foundation for Christian Values Education, the Wertestarter*, which Friedhelm Loh initiated in 2013. The International Martin Luther Foundation honoured Friedhelm Loh's commitment as a donor and benefactor with the LutherRose 2019. His support for social and charitable organisations stands for his sense of social responsibility - as a Christian and an entrepreneur.

The laudator Reinhard Quast, CEO of OTTO QUAST Bau AG and President of the Central Association of the German Construction Industry since 2018, attested to the winner of the LutherRose 2019, Friedhelm Loh, that "in combination with the extraordinary gifts that are united in his person, he has also not buried the rational cognitive ability, the sober ability to analyse and the craftsmanship of an honourable businessman". Loh has "turned these treasures into action every day and has grown with them."

Sigmar Gabriel gave the keynote speech. In it, the former German Federal Minister and Chairman of the SPD emphasised: "Ownership is an obligation - family businesses live up to this constitutional claim in a special way. We are indebted to Friedhelm Loh and German family businesses for this."
